International Book Fair
The International Guadalajara Book Fair is actually the world’s biggest Spanish publication event. Every year, its alleys become the place where book professionals negotiate the sale of books, copyrights and translations and where their knowledge about new technological innovations concerning the book industry is updated. The IBF is also a 9 day window through which the reading public has access to unprecedented editorial offers in Guadalajara. In 2009, the IBF will be held between the 28th of November and 6th of December.

Mariachi encounter
Guadalajara has greatly contributed to the creation of western Mexico as we know it. Mariachi, in its traditional aspect, continues as a regional institution and has become a musical symbol of Mexico that has been disseminated in many other countries of the world.
In 1994, The National Chamber of Commerce of Guadalajara, with the help of the Government of the State of Jalisco, instituted the 1st International Mariachi Encounter to promote the just merit of the elements that identify, unite and fill us with pride. It is during this Mexican Fiesta that Jalisco, the land of Mariachi, feels a profound satisfaction in reuniting at its heart, the real ambassadors of our quality music that invites singing and shares the emotions of the Mexicans through songs sang around the world.
